Installation Guide

Pixy for Autodesk Revit · version 3.2.3 · Windows

Thank you for downloading Pixy. The whole setup takes about two minutes: run the installer, restart Revit, then activate your licence.

Before you start

Autodesk Revit 2025, 2026 or 2027. The installer detects which versions you have and lets you choose.
Operating system Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit).
Permissions Administrator rights. Windows will show a UAC prompt — this is expected, because the add-in is installed for all users.
Internet Needed to activate your licence and to check it periodically. Not needed to install.
Close Revit Quit Revit before installing. Revit only loads add-ins at startup, and files in use cannot be replaced.

Install Pixy

  1. Extract the ZIP Right-click the downloaded ZIP and choose Extract All. Running the installer directly from inside the ZIP can fail, because Windows opens it from a temporary read-only location.
  2. Run the installer Double-click PixySetup_v3.2.3.exe. Choose Yes when Windows asks for administrator permission.
  3. Follow the six steps Welcome, AI Suite, Licence agreement, Detect, Install, Finish. On the Detect step, tick each Revit version you want Pixy added to.
  4. Start Revit Open Revit and load or create any project. The ribbon is only built once a document is open.
  5. Open the Pixy tab You should now see a Pixy tab on the ribbon with the modeling tools and the AI Suite.
Where files go

The manifest is written to %ProgramData%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\<year>\Pixy.addin and the program files to the Pixy\ folder beside it, one set per Revit version you selected.

Activate your licence

  1. Open License Manager In Revit, go to the Pixy tab and click License Manager.
  2. Enter your key Paste the key from your confirmation email exactly as it appears, hyphens included.
  3. Activate this computer Confirm when prompted. Your tools unlock straight away.

No licence yet? Buy one at pixyplugin.store, or use the button inside License Manager to open the store. Your key is emailed immediately after payment.

Devices and seats

Modeling tools are seat-limited. A lifetime licence covers 1 device on Solo, 5 on Team and 10 on Enterprise; a monthly plan covers 1 on Creator, 5 on Studio and 10 on Infinite.

AI Suite sign-in is not seat-limited — your pixel balance belongs to your account, not to a machine. You can release a device at any time from User Account in Revit or from the PixyCloud dashboard to free a seat.

If something goes wrong

Windows says it “protected your PC” and will not run the installer

Windows SmartScreen shows this for any installer it has not yet seen often enough, which includes every new Pixy release on its first days. Click More info, then Run anyway.

Only do this for the file you downloaded from pixyplugin.store. If you are unsure where your copy came from, delete it and download it again from the site.

There is no Pixy tab in Revit

Work through these in order:

  1. Open a project. With no document open, Revit does not show tool ribbons.
  2. Fully quit and reopen Revit. Add-ins load only at startup, so a Revit that was running during the install will not see Pixy.
  3. Confirm you installed for the Revit version you are actually opening. Check that %ProgramData%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\<year>\Pixy.addin exists for that year.
  4. Check Revit did not disable the add-in: if a “third-party add-in” security prompt appeared at startup, choose Always Load.

My antivirus flagged or quarantined the installer

The installer is a single self-contained file that unpacks the plugin on launch. Some scanners treat that pattern as suspicious on sight, without any specific detection. Restore the file from quarantine, or allow the download folder, then run it again.

If your scanner names a specific threat rather than a generic heuristic, stop and contact us before running it.

Activation fails or reports too many devices

Activation needs internet access; if you are behind a corporate proxy or VPN, try once on a normal connection. If you are told the device limit is reached, release a device you no longer use from User Account in Revit or from the PixyCloud dashboard, then activate again.

Check the key matches the product you are opening — a key issued for one tool will not activate a different one.

I use several Revit versions

Select them all on the Detect step and one licence covers them on that machine; the seat is tied to the computer, not to each Revit version. To add a version later, run the same installer again and tick the new one.

Uninstalling

Pixy adds an entry to Apps & features in Windows Settings. You can also run PixyUninstaller.exe from the installed Pixy\ folder. Removing Pixy does not consume or waste your licence — reinstalling and activating again on the same computer reuses the same seat.
